Objectives
The customer wanted to understand the time and effort involved in moving their estate to the Microsoft Cloud, whilst also understanding what treatments would best be used allowing the migration to happen at speed, a requirement to move obsolete and EOL OS to reduce their technical debt and finally embrace Azure tooling to allow greater security.

- The data provided allowed Junkshon to categorize the data between Prod and Non Prod and separate the workloads between Application and Database (MSSQL)
- Current up-to-date hosts, targeted for direct migration to an Azure VMWare solution
- Obsolete/EOL hosts targeted for O/S upgrade
- MSSQL hosts targeted for SQL in Azure VM or AVS VMWare VM’s
- Use of Azure tooling allows for increased security
- Removal of obsolete/EOL operating systems resulted in the reduction of tech debt.
- Assets located in existing DC’s are relocated to a managed Azure DC

Objectives
- Microsoft had performed a previous analysis and wanted to double-check the costs given.
- Initially started with one site (Barcelona) with the intention of more following Junkshon undertook this work to understand the costs involved in moving their infrastructure using Microsoft Azure and AWS.
Approach

- Azure native services could be utilised for Citrix, AD File & FTP, Exchange and Active MQ

Objectives
Working with a large cloud provider as part of a team responding to RFP, we were asked to assist in providing migration costs for an initially 830 servers. Following the initial report, we were asked to provide migration costs and a future consumption report for the remaining 5000+ server estate .
Approach
- Support customers RFP process – cost modelling, scenario creation and ‘R’ analysis for treatments
- Primary migration method used was to look at re-host, primarily for Windows & Linux servers.
- Obsolete operating systems to be targeted for re-platform to a current operating system patch level prior to migration.
- Most labour-intensive categories will be the Solaris/AIX/TRU64/Unknown servers and were resourced accordingly.
- Oracle DB servers were targeted for a cloud DBaaS platform.
- Remaining servers were targeted for re-factor.
- Junkshon recommended a mass migration and a subsequent transformation and optimisation programme once complete.
