Objectives
Junkshon were asked to produce recommendations for migration treatments for the Microsoft Windows servers nearing the end of support life, or already EOSL to MS Windows 2019.
The scope has multiple versions of the operating systems and using Aspire, Junkshon were able to assist and recommend the migration treatments and the strategy from the data supplied.
Approach
- The assignment was initially run with the Service Provider upload of data followed by its ingestion the large amount of data files given allowed Junkshon to filter out non-important information
- Our approach focused on the customer’s main objective to “move all existing EOL or nearing EOL operating systems to Windows 2019” The creation of 5 separate scenarios allowed Junkshon to separate the operating systems to further enhance the treatment requirements and the costs associated with this
Results
- Rapid Assessment (RA) was completed within 10 working days
- The majority of servers were subject to a mass Replatform to Azure
- Costing covering a 1 and 3 year migration period was generated
- The main components used during this assignment were MCDB which allowed the customer to fully see the estate both in its entirety and separated by scenario, Migration Treatments that gave an understanding of the treatments that need to be undertaken for each asset and finally Calculators which gave a detailed pricing valuation per scenario

Objectives
We were contacted by a leading business management consultant to help them prepare for a transformation programme for their customer, a prominent airline business. They were helping their customer plan the removal of technical debt of existing legacy operating systems and applications.
The customer had combined the multiple spreadsheets collated throughout the company into one spreadsheet but was now suffering from analysis paralysis. Using the ASPIRE platform, junkshon architects worked with the customer to create a single version of their CMDB. This has helped them plan a work programme to modernise their end customer estate.
Key objectives:
Eradication of legacy operating systems and applications (Windows 2008/12 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008/12)
Approach
- The estate total was 4372, which following analysis which identified no longer in use infrastructure, was baselined to 3516.
- Customer was interested in operating systems, and reviewing end-of-support life, to enable a plan of action for transformation.
- Operating systems and applications were split to show a clear number of customer assets that would require migration treatments
Results
- The CMDB was built in under five days.
- A final report detailing a breakdown of the in-scope estate was delivered.
- The report detailed where storage was allocated and used by the business unit, making it easy to identify quick cost savings for each business unit.
- This breakdown also identified where additional support could be provided to the business unit to manage their workloads better.
- Junkshon provided a recommended next steps report, to assist the business management consultancy further add value to their end customer.
